Dupont St. bridge construction + Planet Storage

Dupont St. bridge construction + Planet Storage

December 14, 2010, on the railway bridge above Dupont St. at Dundas St. West. During the next few days after this photo was taken, a new bridge was constructed between the bridge I'm standing on and the West Toronto Railpath (the orange bridge on the left). This is all part of the railway expansion project for GO Transit's Georgetown line and the Airport Rail Link. In the background is the Planet Storage building, formerly Viceroy Rubber.

Sweat CANCELLED due to weather

Sweat CANCELLED due to weather

December 14, 2010. It was a cold evening, about -10C, but still a nice night for a walk around the neighbourhood. This sign on Dupont St., near Edwin Ave. caught my eye. "Sweat cancelled due to weather". Yeah, I wasn't sweating much at all, that's for sure.

October 16, 2010, at the corner of 16th St. and Capp St. in San Francisco, just outside of the Victoria Theatre. A useful reminder to pedestrians who are about to cross the street. Missing are signs reminding motorists to put down their phones and pay attention when turning through crosswalks too.

October 16, 2010, at O'Farrell St. and Mason St., San Francisco.

Hotel Virginia, with a liquor / food store and diner attached. What more could you want?

(No, I didn't stay here either.)

Deconstructing Sunnyvale

Deconstructing Sunnyvale

October 16, 2010. I started off this day by walking from my hotel to the Sunnyvale Caltrain station. This photo shows the remnants of an off-ramp from S. Mathilda Ave. down to W. Evelyn Ave., just outside the station.

Apart from my train ride, a few meals, and checking into the hostel, this was a very... long... day... of... walking... But it was well worth it.

Caltrain: Sunnyvale

Caltrain: Sunnyvale

October 14, 2010. Crossing the Caltrain tracks at S Mary Ave and W Evelyn Ave in Sunnyvale, California. While walking from my hotel to the office, my timing was always good and I was able to watch the trains come roaring through here in each direction. A couple of days later, I took the Caltrain from Sunnyvale to San Francisco.

Jazzy laneway mural

Jazzy laneway mural

September 12, 2010. Jen and I went for a walk around the 'hood, and took some shortcuts through the Ritchie - Herman - Gold - Silver area just south of the Dundas and Bloor intersection. We spotted this mural on someone's garage in a laneway.

Montreal: Taking a break on the stairs

Montreal: Taking a break on the stairs

Jen and I took a holiday at the start of September and took the train up to Ottawa and Montreal for a week. We visited family in Ottawa, then had a few days to ourselves to relax in Montreal. Well, it wasn't all relaxation in Montreal: We did a significant amount of walking around the city, plus some biking with the public Bixi bikes.

I took this photo while we sat down for a break on a shaded stairway while climbing up Mount Royal.

Two things that I like: Hamilton and bikes

...and I think squirrels are kind of fun too.

This photo was taken in Macnab St. pedestrian underpass that goes under the railway tracks in downtown Hamilton. I was meeting up with Jen at the Hamilton GO Centre last Friday after work and was a bit early so I went for a little walk around downtown. I hadn't been through this tunnel before, and I was pleasantly surprised by the really bright and cheerful mural here, so of course I took a few photos.

I grew up in Hamilton, and I appreciate it more and more every time I go back. It's a great city to do some cycling in too. Looking forward to going back very soon, with a bike.
