January 8, 2011. Spotted this sign in the alley behind Campbell Ave. south of Dupont while out for a morning walk during a snowstorm.

Hope you have a rockin' 2011. I have definitely signed myself up for some fun, excitement, and many challenges this year. :)

October 17, 2010. An abandoned store at the corner of O'Farrell and Jones, in The Tenderloin, San Francisco.

October 16, 2010 on Osage St., a small but very colourful laneway just west of Mission and 24th in San Francisco. Someone must really like Lou Reed.

Another oldie that has seen better days. "One of the oldest in the city, it had previously been known as the Wigwam Theatre (when it opened in 1913), New Rialto Theatre, and Crown Theatre. The theater closed in 1987. " More info and old photos at Cinema Treasures.

October 16, 2010. Somewhere along 16th St. near Folsom St. in San Francisco, on a fence with a bunch of other signs that appeared to be hand-painted by kids. I can agree with this. Riding a bike makes me happy too.

September 12, 2010. Jen and I went for a walk around the 'hood, and took some shortcuts through the Ritchie - Herman - Gold - Silver area just south of the Dundas and Bloor intersection. We spotted this mural on someone's garage in a laneway.

By this time, the chimney was the only structure left standing on the Tower Automotive property, aside from the tower itself.

A couple of weeks before, I took this photo from inside the boiler house that surrounded the chimney.

The end of August and into September was not a kind month to the vacant Tower Automotive property on Sterling Rd. In the span of a month, all of the buildings on the property have been demolished, besides the iconic 11-story industrial tower. The amazing old facades along Perth Ave. and Sterling Rd. were knocked down first, followed by the boiler house, and eventually the old chimney stack.

I took this photo inside the boiler house on August 28th 2010, just after demolition had started. A few days later, it was gone.

I will post a few more photos from this demolition over the next few days. I sure took alot of pics here, but I want to remember how it looked, and be able to compare it to whatever gets developed here over the next few years.

It will be interesting to see if this place gets re-used (doubt it), pillaged and vandalized (probably), and eventually torn down to be replaced with something better (probably, but who knows when?).
